MARWOOD X GOODHOOD DIP-DYED MOHAIR SOCKS

Marwood featured in GQ November

New A/W’15 Collection - Inspiration

British Folk Art and Craft inspired the new Marwood Autumn/Winter 2015 collection. Having visited Tate Britain last summer, we were struck by the stories, skill and heart that went in to intricate pieces of art. Their genuine expression in order to tell a tale was refreshing and free in spirit. We then deconstructed our English Lace and created applique patches and hand stitched them on to our woven jacquards. We also took inspiration from Paul Klee for colour and pattern and interpreted these colour blocks in hand embroidery that appears to be a sampler - testing stitches, exploring composition, playing and enjoying the expression.

Marwood Logo Spotting Book Launch

We are launching an exciting new project this week! A small book project that will span 10 years. Each year we will work with a photographer or artist to re-interpret our signature diamond: Logo Spotting. Stephen J.Morgan kicks off this project and has produced 10 beautiful photographs for Marwood. He is represented by one of our favourite galleries - the Wapping Bankside - which was founded by the inspiring and pioneering Jules Wright. We are showing the images for one night only at our Walpole partner Beetles + Huxley gallery in Piccadilly. If you would like to come and join us this Thursday 30th July from 6 - 9pm and enjoy a glass of fizz, please rsvp to [email protected]

Marwood x Matthew Miller Collaboration

London Collections: Men kicked off this weekend with four days of fashion curated for men. From well known, established brand names such as Tom Ford and Burberry (who also showed lace ties this season) to the more niche and highly reputable such as Craig Green and Lou Dalton - the shows are the first glance of what is to come in men’s fashion for Spring / Summer 2016. One of our favourite designers redefining formality this season was Matthew Miller and we were super happy to collaborate with Matthew by making the neckties for his show. We were given creased, wrinkled nylons and cotton blend fabrics in neutral stone shade to work with - varying from sheer drapey linings to cloth so stiff that a pin can hardly pass through without braking. We loved the challenge and our Kent based factory embraced it fully. The results are refined, modern and typical of Matthew Miller but with the Marwood principles of utilising authentic, traditional making processes to offer a modern alternative to traditional accessories.

Marwood worn for weddings

Marwood ties and pocket squares are becoming increasingly popular for wedding parties and guests. We get a lot of emails asking us to make seven or eight Marwood ties for their party. Given enough time, we can accommodate these requests and then we love to see the photos afterwards. Here is a selection to start with but we will update this more often as the photos are great to see how versatile the lace and woven ties are. If you would like to order Marwood ties for your wedding party or you just want to enquire further then please drop an email to [email protected]

If you like anything you see here in the photos, each image should click through to the shop if it is in stock. Alternatively, just enquire and we will probably be able to produce the style again.

Week30

Mohair Socks

Mother’s Day is fast approaching. Are you wondering what to get as a gift? If you want to treat her, we suggest you gift Marwood mohair socks. These are exactly the type of socks to invest in as once they’re worn, they become fast favourites in anyone’s sock drawer. Made using smooth mohair fibres from angora goats, these mohair socks are durable and feel super soft and luxurious on the feet. Mohair’s natural yarns mean that feet stay warm in the cold and cool in the heat due to their breathable hollow fibres. We all wear mohair socks in the studio and recommend them thoroughly. The women’s ankle length is available exclusively on our online shop and they cost £30 per pair, or £45 for two pairs. Treat Mum, she will thank you for it.

Marwood Studio Visit

Photographer, Matthew Walder came to visit the Marwood studio and took some behind the scenes shots to capture some of the processes that go on behind closed doors. This is the first part in a series and he will continue to document the studio in more depth over the coming months and years.
Marwood started four years ago from humble beginnings in an artist studio in Dalston, London. Out of a crowded corner in that studio began sketches, swatches and ideas for the first few collections. After two years we had certainly outgrown the space, with towering boxes looming overhead and production being packed in a storage unit in North London… it was time for a change. So, two years ago we changed our set-up and moved the design studio combined with warehouse to a workshop in Devon, on the outskirts of Dartmoor. It gives us breathing space - headspace for creativity - as well as practical space for boxes and shipping. Our presence in London remains with an office off Hoxton Square where our founder Becky meets press and buyers and stays connected with the city. Ozi runs our London press office and we often welcome customers to pop in and see products up close or work on bespoke projects - particularly weddings. If you would like to make an appointment, please contact us [email protected]

Marwood meets John Tebbs

Upon finding The Garden Edit, founded by gardener John Tebbs and sharing his philosophy to create a modern collection of products that embody functionality, timelessness and beauty, we approached Tebbs to feature in our S/S’15 campaign: a series of images capturing the concentration of vibrant colour and woven textures, worn with the relaxed ease of an English gardener off-duty.

Scroll through the tranquil images by photographer Arianna Lago wearing some of our Spring / Summer ’15 accessories - scarves, ties, neckerchiefs and pocket squares. You can also read our interview with Tebbs. We ask him about how he started, what drove him to start a shop and what is the best indoor plant for a London home.

Watch this space for more news to come on a collaboration with The Garden Edit. Click here to see the complete series of images. Click here to see the complete series of images.

When did you start the Garden Edit?

We launched The Garden Edit in November 2013. I had been thinking about starting the project for a while and then at the start of 2013 decided to throw caution to the wind and give it a go!

Where did you grow up and passion for gardening start?

I grew up in a town called Ashby De La Zouch in the Midlands. We had a small garden and my father had an allotment (still does). Everyone in my family was into gardening; grandparents, aunts, uncles - I was pretty much surrounded by it as a child and guess that passion rubbed off. I took my first weekend job in a plant nursery at the age of 14 and pretty much knew then that I wanted to be involved in the horticultural world.

You are a gardener. What types of projects do you get asked to do?

I mainly do gardening - so I look after a number of clients gardens on a long term basis. It’s great working with a garden long term because it is constantly evolving - nothing is ever finished. That is the joy of gardening. I also do some design work but I prefer to work with a space long term.

Which garden is the most tranquil place you have discovered in UK?

I’m not sure about tranquil, I find most gardens have the capacity to provide tranquility - that for me is one of the real pleasures of a garden. One that I find endlessly inspiring is Great Dixter in East Sussex - the garden has a dream like quality to, which ever season you visit it can transport you somewhere special.

You appreciate finely crafted objects and have a wonderful edit of pieces on your site. How did this come together?

It came together through a lot of time sourcing. I had always enjoyed spending time finding things, in a way it was a natural progression to turn it into a business.

Ceramics are a big part of your Garden Edit. What draws your eye to a piece?

Yes I do have a bit of a thing for ceramics! I love objects that have a certain rawness or honesty to them - that you are aware they have been made by someone’s hands. I enjoy being able to see the various processes and firings that take place to get the finished object. You feature in our SS15 campaign wearing Marwood accessories.

What occasion was the last time you wore a tie?

Last month I attended a family wedding in New Zealand. It was very hot but I did sport a tie - for a while…

What clothing items are your most practical and essential parts of your wardrobe?

My boots probably, I wear them for work but also for most other situations too. They are made by a Swedish company and in true Scandinavian style have the ability to be practical and aesthetically pleasing! In winter I would say thermals are a pretty important staple too!

What plants are the most easy to look after for a London home?

I am a huge fan of Sansevieria or commonly known as Mother in law’s tongue. It has a great structural quality and is also not fussy - it copes with low light levels and a certain amount of neglect with watering - two very important things for plants in the London home! I also love Monstera and Ficus elastica - both bigger options but also pretty easy. It’s also hard to go wrong with a spider plant!

Where is the best place to buy your plants in your opinion?

I tend to get mine from wholesale nurseries which aren’t always open to the public. However, it’s always nice to try and support the specialist growers and nurseries - you are more likely to find great plants in a place where someone is passionate about growing them. Thanks so much for being a part of this project.

Anything else to add?

It’s been a pleasure and much fun was had! I’m really looking forward to collaborating with Marwood on some pieces for The Garden Edit soon!

Week20

Alice Made This- Interview

  1. Can you tell us a bit about Alice Made This. How did the idea come up? What was your starting point?

Alice Made This launched in 2012 after Ed, my husband, and I struggled to find a clean refined pair of cufflinks for our wedding. Cufflink was a great introduction to the fashion industry and an opportunity to use a product to illustrate industrial craftsmanship in Britain. It all began in our garden shed!

  1. Why men’s accessories? Would you ever design for women?

I have grown up with two brothers and am a bit of a tomboy at heart. I get tools as gifts and prefer DIY to cooking. Designing for men seemed like an appropriate path. An accessory for a man is a refined mix of form and function. Whether it is a cufflink, a watch, a wallet or a glove… they can highlight a mans character but they also have a job to do.

  1. Why are Alice Made This products different from the rest of the market? Tell our readers more about your unique process…

My career background prior to Alice Made This was in product and industrial design. I fell in love with being in factories and have made this passion integral to the brand. With our designs, we celebrate materials, manufacturing processes and industrial craftsmanship and offer our customers something unique that continues to tell its own story, for years to come. Our pieces reflect the process by which they are produced. Our collaboration is made in a factory that specializes in aerospace and engineering parts. They are made on a precision automated lathe and this dictates the machined, graphic aesthetic. They are then post produced in an industrial electroplating facility which specializes in precious metal plating for the electronics and nanotechnology industry. Again the metals reflect those, which are used in the process and its industrial products.

  1. Who is your customer?

We have a broad customer base. On one hand it is the stylish man looking for a detail to finish his outfit. On the other hand it is the female shopper looking for that perfect gift. In both cases it seems to be someone that is drawn into a story and someone who likes to see provenance and design as a benchmark.

  1. You have recently grown the team and got a new studio. Tell us more about this…

Yes – I am very excited to have grown the team. My husband has come on board to take on the commercial side of the business and this allows me to focus on the bits that I am good at and that I enjoy most. We have a lovely studio in Bermondsey that gives us a space to show our products and grow.

  1. The process is the most important part of creating new products. Whose process inspires you and why?

Alan Fletcher is a great source of inspiration to me. His motto of “Design is not a thing you do. It’s a way of life.” Strikes a cord. His graphic thought process and visual thinking was amazing.

  1. Why collaborate?

Becky and I are both women designing for men. Standing side by side at the fashion week we learnt about each other’s product processes and materials. We have an equal passion for British manufacturing and material tactility that has turned into a collaboration. It was a really lovely process and a great way to explore and implement both parallel and juxtaposed ideas.

  1. Finally, do you have exciting new projects coming up?

We are about to launch some gifting solution for Christmas and the holiday season, and a creative collaboration with cocktail maker! January sees the launch of a new production story, which I am really excited about as the process and its history is close to my heart.

This season has been significant in terms of collaborations. One of them is of course is our printed English lace using All Fall In’s tessellating leaf design. During the past two weeks All Fall In creator Sam Kerr has been putting his stamp on nine Marwood swing tags. As these pictures show, Sam has been beautifully defacing our usual hangtags that explain the Marwood mantra on the reverse. Using acrylic ink, Sam has hand painted his tessellation design perfectly on to 9 individual tags. The first nine customers* to purchase any Marwood + All Fall In product from our website will also receive one of these original artworks. Shop the products here… SHOP ALL FALL IN

* We will backdate this offer to those of you who have already bought All Fall In - biensur!

Check out more of Sam’s wonderful All Fall In work here…. http://allfallin.com/site/

Also, our collaboration is featured in the new edition of The Article Magazine. You can pre-order your special edition copy now on their website… http://www.the-article-magazine.com/. We are excited to share ‘behind the scenes’ photographs and portraits shot on film by Stephen J Morgan and a smart and stylish write-up by John Michael O’Sullivan. Let us know what you think of it…

EPISODE 19: LOGO DAY OFF

Meanwhile…

Autumn has arrived. Harvest festivals are in full swing and the leaves and cooking apples are falling. This also means that British festivities like Guy Fawkes night will soon be upon us as well as Halloween, borrowed from the US. Tick tock until Christmas. We have exciting news that you will see Marwood as part of a pre-Christmas pop-up shop on Jermyn Street in London. More info to come.

Time to start getting cosy and ready to wrap up warm. Our mohair socks (long lasting, non itchy, incredibly comfortable, machine washable AND they don’t allow feet to smell) have been selling super well recently! Happy to see that word is getting out about these socks and once worn, they earn a loyal customer. Our other highlight product this month is our Marwood scarf. Warm, striking, graphic patterns and a few colours to choose from. Browse the collection here.

English Lace: Our Factory Visit

A couple of weeks ago we re-visited our lace factory near Nottingham, the last remaining one. During the British Empire, Nottingham was the world’s centre of the lace industry and a bustling, active market place. After World War II, it went into decline, like most of the textile industry at the time. Lace making is now a dying craft due to the lack of training there is to replace the final few workers in the factory. Many current workers in the mill have been there since leaving school and are now approaching retirement. They are unsure of who will replace them once they’ve gone. This is especially noticeable with the last remaining draftsman. He is only person who is trained to create new designs of the lace on these specialist machines. No one else can do the job now and no one else is being trained to do it in the future.

The factory, located on the border of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire in a beautiful brick building, Cluny Lace factory has been in family for nine generations. Although running as a lace factory since 1845, all of the machines has been upgraded to the latest technology and attracts a lot of interest from luxury brands. Cluny is where Burberry’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection lace was made. It is also where special applique lace pieces were from, that were then cut and sewn on to Duchess of Cambridge Kate’s wedding dress, designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

Charles who is part of the family that own the factory, showed us around. He told us about the machines, the history and most excitingly showed us the archive of all the lace designs in huge antique folders. Some of the design’s drafts have been lost or ruined which are sadly irreplaceable.

What makes this lace notably English? It has a more robust quality to it than French lace for instance. It is made of cotton and replicates hand crocheted lace much more than machine-made fine lace. On some qualities you can see a raised nodule stitch – this is apparent on our geometric lace which you can see here. It is a technique that the Leavers lace machine can make, and no other machines can imitate.

Here at Marwood, we are very proud and privileged to be working so closely with factories like Cluny, who have such a beautiful back story and heritage. We are always thinking of new ways to use the lace and keep it modern for Marwood. Have a look at our printed lace this season which was made in collaboration with All Fall In. These items are currently selling at Selfridges and Mr Porter as well as our own online shop. Click here to see the lace collection.

Week18

Gio Ponti: A Cover Story

We are very excited to announce this collaboration! Our first venture in to furnishings… and one that is inspiring us to do some more in the future. We want to say a big thank you to Betty Wood and Kucha Swara of Port Magazine for inviting Marwood and curating such a fantastic project. The event at the store on Wednesday night was wonderful to be a part of, not to mention what an honour to see our fabrics furnishing such iconic Gio Ponti chairs. For those of you who came to listen to our talk, thanks for coming… we hope you found it interesting. Here are some official words about the project… “To celebrate London Design Week 2014, Molteni&C invited luxury lifestyle magazine Port to curate an exhibition of Gio Ponti’s iconic D.270.2 armchairs in an exclusive range of textiles by four British designers, including Marwood. Demonstrating the shared commitment to quality, craftsmanship and beauty, Custhom, Esme Winter, FfionGriffith, and Marwood have each upholstered Ponti’s revered design in bespoke patterns commissioned exclusively for the exhibition, titled ‘Gio Ponti: A Cover Story’.”

For our fabric design, we took one of our best selling ties, the Harlequin, and chose a section of the ink drawn design to create two new jacquards of the same pattern. The extent of options offered in creating a weave is vast, so we chose a clean, compact cloth that would be hard wearing but show the sharpness of the design. On one chair the design is set vertically and the other horizontally, working as a complimentary duo or each as a confident stand-alone piece. Check them out in the window of the Molteni store and let us know what you think. For further enquiries, contact us at [email protected].

You can choose from Gold, Silver, Rhodium or Copper. See our shop for the four styles.

Francesca Woodman

Francesca Woodman: An exhibition of beautiful coincidences.

We went to the private view of the Francesca Woodman exhibition this week; at the Victoria Miro‘s Mayfair location. We have copied some info from the horse’s mouth… but wanted to share some work that truly inspires us and has for years, ever since a friend returned from seeing these works in San Francisco. What a pleasure to now see them in person.

This exhibition considers the zigzag and other abstract geometrical forms as recurring visual themes in Woodman’s work. Woodman’s practice is often discussed in terms of its surreal and symbolic imagery, but her work was grounded in a sophisticated understanding of form. Her photography exemplified strong compositional motifs, and the repetitive, regular shape of the zigzag, with its strong lines and angles, was a form she used in images of disparate subjects.

Many of Woodman’s gelatin silver prints feature this strong, idiosyncratic abstract lineage, and she also extended her investigation of the serial geometrical form in her large-scale diazotype prints. The artist described one of these works in a letter to a friend in 1980: ‘It will be … a long string of images held together by a long compositional zigzag, thus the corner of a building in one frame fits into the elbow of a girl in the next frame into a book in the third frame, the images are both very personal mysterious ones and harsh images of outdoor city life. It is had to get the adjoining images to fit the rigorous structural scaffold’.

The last image shows this series and is one of the most beautiful. The pattern forms and consideration across all the images linking together are subtle, careful and hauntingly beautiful.

The Francesca Woodman Exhibition will be in Victoria Miro Gallery in Mayfair until 4th October .

Images courtesy of Victoria Miro Gallery. We are sorry to crop the photos in some cases. This is a web issue that we are looking in to as we don’t want to change the composition of other people’s images and artwork. Thanks for your patience.

Marwood bell jars on display in Selfridges

Our most recent stockist, Selfridges invited us to create an installation within three large bell jars for their London store on the 1st floor men’s designer area. This provided a nice challenge to think of something visual that stayed true to the Marwood brand as well as fit perfectly within the contemporary setting of Selfridges new designer mat. Following on from Hannah Martin‘s refined display and to sit alongside an installation of the newly launched Thom Browne collection, this was an exciting brief.

For each jar, we created platforms to display the products from panels of square mesh, cutting them from a ready made panel and then hand stitching them together at each corner before painting them black. To draw attention to the tessellating leaf pattern on our All Fall In x Marwood collaboration products, we spray painted real ivy leaves in high gloss black paint and scattered them within the jars. Working with graphic duo Everything in Between, we wanted to create something that celebrated the start of Autumn but with an eye catching reference to our collaboration. These pieces are special due to the design and process but also will only be available in a limited run. This makes them the perfect gift for men.

This exclusive display will be in the Contemporary Menswear Department of Selfridges for the next 4-6 weeks. Please visit, and check out what else we have in store at Selfridges. Here is their current selection of products but watch out for an exclusive range of gold/black dropping in a couple of weeks. These will be exclusive to Selfridges and even more limited run. Get in quick!

Koloman Moser Inspiration for A/W’14

EPISODE 14: LOGO DAY OFF

Meanwhile…

The new collection is online! We were inspired by the Viennese artist Kolomon Moser and his graphic illustrative style and colour palette. Have a look at our feature on him and watch out for the next issue of Article magazine, as they came to visit us in the studio to talk to us about our collaboration with graphic artist, Sam Kerr from All Fall In. A bi-annual publication beautifully printed by Push printers, they “aim to share what they think makes Britain great from a unique and interesting perspective. Covering everything from art and design to culture , entertainment and contemporary men’s fashion”. Well, we certainly think they have achieved that. Next issue out in October.

Grey Fox on Mr Porter

Thanks to David Evans, one of our favourite menswear bloggers, who writes on behalf of the older gentleman dresser. This week he was featured on the reputable Mr Porter Journal wearing a selection of items he chose from their edit of new Autumn / Winter 2014 designer wares. Our moser grid silk tie in black and white was David’s choice and we are very happy to see it worn so well. Take a look at the article here or shop Mr Porter’s edit of Marwood here.

Marwood in Selfridges, London

You can now shop a sharp monochrome edit of the new A/W’14 Marwood collection in the iconic London store, Selfridges. This is the first time Marwood will be sold in Selfridges and we are very excited to announce them as a new London stockist. Pop in and find our classic wool/cotton blend staircase scarf (as pictured) in a soft brushed finish, as well as ties, bow ties and pocket squares. All the accessories are woven in our Suffolk silk mill and the lace ties and bow ties are hand-made in Kent. We are very proud of the printed lace range which is a collaboration with graphic artist, Sam Kerr who has created All Fall In. Using one of his intricate and intelligent tessellations, designed exclusively for Marwood, we managed to work with a South London print duo, their studio based under the railways arches, to screen print the design by hand on to the delicate lace. No mean feat. Let us know what you think…

As the important elements of the Rudeboy subculture music, fashion/style and attention to detail is stressed throughout the exhibition. Crowning our King & Queen of May

The May Queen’s duty is to begin the May Day celebrations. She is generally crowned by flowers and makes a speech before the dancing begins. Certain age groups dance round a Maypole celebrating youth and the spring time. Well, why not celebrate youth and springtime? A positive enough reason to embrace dancing, colour and strange British festivities… another example of a festival that circulates every year but we are not really sure why or where it came from. Wiki adds a touch of macabre by mentioning that the May Queen used to be put to death after her duties. This is not in keeping with our May Day vibes, so we will just leave that buried as ‘anti-pagan propaganda’ indeed. Game of Thrones gives us enough of a glimpse in to this kind of thing and let’s be honest, they do it best.

So, who is our crowned May Day Queen? We are celebrating Katharine Hepburn of course. Born May 12th, 1907, she seemed our obvious choice. A style before her time, her projection of self-confidence, wearing men’s clothing in full feminine force, not to mention her unforgettable talent as an actress. Her legacy is as relevant and inspiring today as she was 80 years ago. Those Downton Abbey girls wouldn’t have known what hit them.

We can’t have a May Day Queen without her King and it had to be our favourite Sir Ian McKellen to get the crown. Born May 25, 1939, he is seen here wearing a Marwood crest lace tie, he is the epitome of quintessential British style. His combinations are never classic or predictable. He is a style maker for sure and that’s not acknowledging the fact he played Gandalf among other famous roles and recently spoke up in an open penned letter against Russia’s anti-gay laws. Sir Ian… you are our King.

May Day Traditions

May Day festivities kick off around England today… or as most of us know it , a welcome 3 day break. Regarded as the beginning of good weather (always hopeful) and understood as a pagan festival where Maypoles get resurrected and Morris dancers takes over the local village green and even the crazy Hobby Horse makes his rounds, we’ll use it as an excuse to celebrate. It is also International Worker’s Day and one that draws out protest from strong minds that need to fight their rights.

Logo Day Off

Russell Weekes has begun an animated series called “Logo Day Off” using our signature black diamond. This is episode 1, so keep an eye out for more. S/S ’14 Lookbook - Behind the Scenes

The current Spring / Summer ’14 collection was initially launched to press and buyers last summer at London Collections: Men. Ready for the launch we shot the lookbook in an incredible location in Brockley, South London. It wasn’t an official location so even more remarkable that it had so much to offer… genuine features, true time-worn familiarity, a family history; all on theme with the original inspiration of deserted Icelandic farmhouses, captured by photographer Orri Johnnson. Terry, the owner, was about to sell his home and he was kind enough to let us record the nooks and crannies on film, by art/ portrait photographer Kate Peters. You can see the lookbook images in ‘Collections’ or by clicking here.

Marwood x Cherchbi

Marwood collaborated with Cherchbi at the end of last year to produce a set of luxury travel companions.

A proper collaboration. The Marwood x Cherchbi three-piece collection draws on the essence and unique skills of both brands; our iconic cloths (Herdwyck wool tweed and Marwood staircase silk) and a shared passion for traditional English making techniques. The result is luxurious yet robust set comprising travel case, tie and bow tie.

Originally inspired by 1920′s collar cases the travel case is a dual-use travelling companion. We understand a tie should be kept rolled to keep its shape, the travel case will hold six alongside bow ties too. The case doubles as a wash kit; usefully, the silk lining is waterproof. It is trimmed with English saddle leather and a solid brass Riri zip. Cleverly, the end panels are shaped to hold contents secure and the zip collar extends to become a carry handle.

The tie and bow tie beautifully combine our signature tweed and silk. The monochromatic colouring is offset by wonderfully rich textures; a versatile combination to compliment many outfit types.

Each item can be bought separately or together as a specially priced three-piece set. All styles are available in Herdwick grey tweed, the travel case is trimmed with black leather and solid brass hardware.

Using the Cherchbi herdwick tweed, we made a wonderfully English tie and bow tie with the signature Marwood staircase tipping. Cherchbi then designed and produced a new travel kit bag, designed to be practical for a multitude of tasks but with the primary job of storing your ties and bow ties safely for travel. We encourage a rolled tie to keep its shape for longer.

Port Magazine interviewed Becky French of Marwood and Adam Atkinson of Cherchbi here…

The Original Blog

In 2009 Marwood began life in the form of a blog. It was an online sketchbook that recorded research, inspiration and style that epitomised the Marwood aesthetic. Designer, Becky French, started this blog on the recommendation of a friend who worked for the Future Laboratory at the time and pointed out the relevance of recording the process online. A meeting of minds around a kitchen table in East London helped to solidify the idea and with a post-it note on a wall, the brain storm began… Click here to see the original blog.
